Brioche Donuts
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup whole milk, warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- Oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast
Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy
In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt
Add eggs to the yeast mixture and mix well
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and knead until a soft dough forms
Add softened butter and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic
Cover the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size
Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out donut shapes using a donut cutter
Place the donuts on a baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes
Heat oil in a deep pan to 350F 175C
Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side
Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar while still warm
